The one about Seventh Generation Free & Clear Laundry Detergent!

It's so cold here, I've been spending most of my weekend cuddled under a blanket. Brr. With cold weather comes Tristan's eczema flaring up. Recently I teamed up with Seventh Generation to test out their Free & Clear laundry detergent.

As I've mentioned many times before, Tristan has severe eczema, so I'm always leery trying out any other detergents than the one we usually use. I was given several samples of this product to test and I went ahead and tried it out knowing that we might see a reaction on Tristan.

The first thing I noticed is that the detergent has no smell and it's the normal consistency of any other detergent. You can tell right away that it's a free & clear detergent. Sometimes I worry that Free & Clear detergent won't clean as well as other detergent, so I was definitely going to test that out as well.

I washed a load with this and I've got to say I was very pleased, the clothes smelled fresh and clean. They were definitely clean! But again, the real question was whether or not it was going to aggravate my son's skin. The answer is no! I am so happy with this product! It's all natural and good for the environment and it doesn't aggravate my son's eczema. I don't think I could ask much more out of a detergent. Great product!

So if you are looking for a free & clear detergent that won't aggravate eczema, this is the one for you!

Note: I received this product for free to test out and review. The opinions are my own.

The one about new Starbucks Hot Cocoa K-Cups!

It's blustery and cold outside. I woke up to a 7 degree temperature outside. Brr! It's so crazy cold especially considering we've had pretty unseasonably warm weather later. Yesterday we had our first snow of the year. It has just been a roller coaster of Missouri weather lately. Crazy!

Today after I had my morning coffee I was freezing and I needed something else to warm me up. Recently I got samples of Starbucks' new hot cocoa k-cups and I thought today was definitely the day to try them out.
The cute little box my samples came in.

A picture of the Hot Cocoa K-Cup

The Starbucks cocoa comes in 2 flavors, Classic Hot Cocoa and Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa. I'm addicted to everything salted caramel, so that's the flavor that I decided to try out. I popped in the K-Cup, set my brewer to the 8 ounce setting and a minute later I had a nice glass of steaming hot cocoa ready to try.

Harper and I decided to share my glass. The hot cocoa had a rich and decadent cocoa flavor. The only con that it had was that it was sweetened with Stevia. All hot cocoas made for the Keurig are sweetened with alternative sugars. I guess this is because the amount of regular sugar that'd you need to sweeten cocoa wouldn't fit into a K-Cup. Anyways, I just don't like the aftertaste of Stevia. I still thought the hot cocoa was good.

Harper really enjoyed the hot cocoa, I think she drank more than I did! If you have a Keurig and you like Hot Cocoa, you really can't go wrong with these K-Cups. I just wish I would have had some whipped cream or some marshmallows to go inside! It definitely satisfied my desire for something hot to warm me up today!

Note: I received this sample for free, but the thoughts and opinions are my own.

The one about Seventh Generation Free & Clear Baby Wipes!

It's been busy as ever around the old Stroup household. Tristan had his 2nd birthday on Thursday! He is getting to be such a big boy I can't believe it. He's also all boy and so he's messy, crazy, and full of energy. Recently I teamed up with Seventh Generation and their community Generation Good to test out some of their Free & Clear baby wipes. I was excited to try them out because I absolutely love Seventh Generation and their dedication to making great green products. Seventh Generation is also a brand I can trust to not aggravate Tristan's extremely sensitive skin and eczema. I wholeheartedly agreed to work with them with no reservations!

Seventh Generation Free & Clear baby wipes free from fragrances, parabens, phthalates, alcohol, and dyes. They are perfect for sensitive skinned little people. You also don't have to worry about the liquid from the wipes going into your baby's mouth. That's a nice touch. You could use them on binkies and different things without worrying about a ton of chemicals in them, too.

They sent me several wipes samples and I waited for the perfect time to try them out. I knew I needed to try them out for a dirty diaper of course and then also one of Tristan's extreme messes that he likes to make when he's eating. The dirty diaper came first, here's how it shaped up:

The first thing I noticed about the wipe when I removed it from the package was that it was thick and soft. It didn't tear as I removed it from the package like a lot of other wipes do. It was sturdy. It had no smell, as promised, and was very moist for cleaning. The sample packs I received only contained 2 wipes, so I was a bit skeptical that I could get through a dirty diaper with one pack. However, because of how sturdy and thick they are, I only used one pack and Tristan was left extremely clean and ready to go off into his next path of destruction.

Next was the big mess test. Tristan loves yogurt, but he also loves to feed himself. So for lunch I gave him some yogurt fully expecting that more of it would end up on him than in him. He made his usual big mess. Again I was a bit skeptical that I would only need one sample pack, but that's all I needed. I cleaned off his hands and face with one and his body with the other. Once again he was left smelling good, clean, and happy.

These wipes are definitely something I can get behind. I love that they didn't irritate his skin after using them. They are so strong and sturdy and they hold up to big messes with no problem. If you're looking for a good alternative to harsh, chemical laden wipes, these are definitely for you! I was very pleased with them.

The one about my rebounding migraine.

have been going through hell lately. I have what's called a rebounding migraine and it's just the worst. Basically I have a roller coaster migraine that lasts all day and all night and has for the past week. The migraine travelled down and went into the muscles of my neck and also it gave me bloodshot eyes. I finally went to the doctor and they gave me a course of steroids to take to get rid of this thing. My pain level has ranged from a 1 or a 2 all the way up to 10. It's usually been holding at about a 7 though. It's been just unbearable so I've been slow on writing on the blog. Today is day 2 of steroids and I am finally feeling a little relief.

I haven't done much of anything except for on Saturday my pain was about a 3 so we decided to go to the St. Louis Zoo and enjoy the day. (Thanks Aunt Mona for the membership!) We had such a great time. We saw a few animals, rode the carousel, and the kids made Build A Bears. It wasn't busy at all and we just enjoyed ourselves. Here's some pictures from our trip:

I love family days like that. It's so great when everyone is getting along and nobody throws fits and we all just enjoy each other's company. Things are so busy all the time sometimes it's hard to just enjoy each other. It makes those times where the stars just align that much better.

A lot of days it's hard and tough and you say, "That's it! I can't take another fight!" You honestly don't feel like you have it in you. These are the times when you need days like this to recall that it's perfect sometimes and those imperfect times don't seem so bad.
